Loving kindness meditation has become a huge part of my spiritual practice over the last decade or so – and only now, am I discovering some of the analogs in Judaism, which is quite exciting to explore with new eyes.

My Hebrew certainly isn’t as good as it was when I was 13 – but “Chesed” – feels like it has much of the same flavor as Mettā – in the service of wishing well for ourselves, and for others – and inclining the mind to more loving, generous and peaceful states – a difficult but important task (and ask) when the world is melting down around us.
