Who is JDATE Anyway?

Very simply, they are a division of the Spark network of dating sites, and obviously, are primarily focused on Jewish dating. (but not exclusively by any means…there are plenty of non-jews on jdate as well, although they are in the distinct minority)

What Do you Get For Joining Jdate?

There are 2 primary levels: Free and Paid. Basically, they work the same with ONE major difference. You can’t communicate with other members on the Free level. You can see them. You can browse the profiles. You can even “chat” via IM on the Free level, although there may be a limitation on how many of these you can receive and or initiate. But you CAN’T read your mail…..or send mail to other members who interest you….which means, for the most part, if you sign up on the free level, you are window shopping only!

On the paid level you can read and send mail. You can read and send IM’s and “flirts” (which are pre-written messages that I’d advice avoiding..:-) and you can basically spend your entire day browsing attractive singles from around the globe….contacting, or corresponding with whomever you want. (say goodbye to spending the weekends alone!)

The Advantages of Jdate over other Jewish Dating Sties?

Tons and tons of members. It’s not even fair to compare. Tens of thousands…..if not well into the 6 figures, can be online at ANY given time, open and ready to communicate. It’s NOT expensive either….with various price points from 24 dollars and change to about 40 a month, depending on how long you sign up for.

They have a free membership as well, as we covered above. Good customer support. Lots of flexibility with your profile….you can post lots of pics, they have video and more. (very technologically friendly for sure)

What I LIKE About Jdate:

Size and Diversity
Price is good
Great use of technology
Very low “spam” or fake profile problems (an annoying issue on more mainstream sites)
It’s a TON of fun!

What I DON’T Like about Jdate

Can be overwhelming when you first start
Occasionally the administrators “edit” your profile if you’ve included text they consider racy or inappropriate
Some of the tips and recommendations for finding love are cheesy…and occasionally annoying! (and they email them to you a few times a week, which is a pain. You can opt out of this if you want)

The Verdict?

There is NO better way, hands down, for Jewish singles of ANY age to meet and fall in love. I’ve seen it in my OWN life, and have lots of family (including a sister) who have been married, or fallen love through Jdate. I recommend it….and if you’re like tens of thousands of others just like me, so too will you!
